A message from Dr. Ken Alpern.
Greetings! When it comes to dermatology care, I realize that you have many choices, and I appreciate the opportunity to help you with your medical and surgical skin care needs. My name is Kenneth S. Alpern, M.D., F.A.A.D., and to become better acquainted, I would like to share a little bit about my background.
I was born in Harbor City, California, and grew up in Long Beach, California, where I attended Long Beach Millikan and Poly High Schools. For college, I went on to graduate from Revelle College at UC San Diego, and, finished four years of Medical School at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. I then completed one year of Internship at the Medical College of Virginia at Richmond, and finished my Dermatology Residency at the University of California, Irvine. |
As for my interests outside of medicine, I am blessed with a loving wife, Celia, a teenage son, Nate, and a little daughter, Becca. I have to admit, all of my free time is spent as a husband and daddy.
For the past 20+ years, I have worked with Dr. Randy Jacobs in the Sun City, Temecula, and Corona clinics. Also, weekly, for 20+ years, I teach Dermatology to students at the University of California, Irvine, and am a Clinical Instructor at the University.

To share with you my philosophy of practice, I am first and foremost a clinical teacher of dermatology-related medicine, so, I strive to provide you with the most up to date and accurate care. You know, I get excited when I work with and care for my dermatology patients. I believe that patients want and need to feel like they are getting the correct diagnosis and the very best up to date care. Now, uncertainty creates anxiety, and patients need reassurance. My greatest joy and ultimate goal is to see that I have helped, and thereby, reduced the anxiety you feel for your skin problems. So, with everything I do, I will try to help you to feel resolved, cared for, and comfortable with your dermatology care.

Both Dr. Jacobs and myself work together as a team and have devoted many years of education and experience, fine tuning and updating the quality and way we both practice dermatology. Both Dr. Jacobs and myself have devoted our lives to patient care, and we so hope our patients feel that they are in the best of hands.
Finally, lately, medicine has become so confusing for so many patients. With HMO’s, PPO’s, IPA’s, Obama Care, and everything healthcare so up in the air, I try my best to be a patient advocate, a doctor who tries to make it easier for patients to get the quality care they need.
