Skin Peels and Retinoids
Is your skin weatherbeaten from years of sun exposure or tanning? With aging, your skin becomes unable to shed dark blotches, sun damage, and a dull, lifeless complexion.  The function of a skin peel is to create an even controlled shedding of several layers of damaged skin cells.  Peeling exposes a new fresh layer of skin with a more even color and smoother texture.  This rejuvenating process can decrease wrinkling and can improve skin complexion.  For people with sun damaged skin, a light to medium TCA chemical skin peel can stimulate new collagen and elastic tissue formation, thereby tightening the skin and minimizing wirnkles.  For those with acne, a TCA or Betaliftx peel can improve complexion, soften scars, and can decrease acne breakouts.  For those with irregular color from sun, hormones, pregnancy, or melasma, a TCA peel or Betaliftx peel may help restore evenness of color.  Dr. Jacobs may suggest retinoid, 5-fluorouracil, or hydroquinone prepeel preparation.  This preparation will promote a more even peel with faster healing.
